The Longest Reigning Monarchs Royal Jubilees Sets

With this year’s celebration of the Platinum Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth II – the first such jubilee in British history – also comes the celebration of our second-longest reigning monarch’s Diamond Jubilee. That celebration was in the year 1897 for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee; an incredible 60-year reign.

In honour of our two longest reigning monarchs, Hattons of London have two coin sets that bring together British pieces in celebration of these two important royal jubilees…

The Longest Reigning Monarchs Milestone Jubilees Coin Set:

In 1897, no commemorative coins were produced for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. Therefore, this set contains an original silver shilling, featuring the ‘Veiled Head’ portrait of Queen Victoria, which was used from 1893-1901 and was on her coinage during her Diamond Jubilee year. This is in selected circulated condition.

Also in this set is the official British 50p coin for Queen Elizabeth II and her Platinum Jubilee, the first 50p coin ever to commemorate a royal event. Depicted on the reverse of the coin is the number ’70’ with the royal cypher in the zero. On the obverse we have the Equestrian portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which is a tradition observed for some of the commemorative coins for her previous jubilees, and to the original silver crown coin of King Edward VI in 1551. This is in BU condition.

The Longest Reigning Monarchs Milestone Jubilees 1897 & 2022 Silver Set:

Although no commemorative coins were produced for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, the Royal Mint produced a commemorative medal, which is featured in this set. Featuring the ‘Veiled Head’ Portrait on one side, and William Wyon’s acclaimed ‘Young Portrait’ on the other, this medal is 26mm in diameter and as it is a similar size to the florin coin, it is often circulated as coinage which means they can be scarce to find today. This is in selected condition, Grade 7.

Also in this set is the official British 50p coin for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, but this is the solid sterling silver version of this coin, in Proof quality. Therefore, the mintage limitation for this coin is only 7,605 coins. These two silver commemoratives come together to celebrate our two longest reigning monarchs in a celebration of their Royal Jubilee years respectively.

Both of these sets come housed in a beautiful presentation case and will include a Certificate of Authenticity. You can purchase them both HERE.
