Her Majesty The Queen became the first monarch in British history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee; an incredible reign of seventy years on the 6th February 2022. As a result, numerous celebrations and events have taken place throughout the year, and a four-day UK bank holiday weekend has been granted from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.

This royal jubilee took place in 1897, a celebration for a remarkable sixty years of reign, marking 2022 as the 125th anniversary.
Having ascended to the throne at only 18 years old on 20 June 1837, Queen Victoria ruled for over 63 years and celebrated her life and reign through a series of Royal Jubilees.
Now, she is Britain’s second-longest reigning monarch, and throughout this blog we will be exploring the two jubilees that she celebrated during her incredible reign.
With this year’s celebration of the Platinum Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth II – the first such jubilee in British history – also comes the celebration of our second-longest reigning monarch’s Diamond Jubilee. That celebration was in the year 1897 for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee; an incredible 60-year reign.
