Hattons of London is a respected specialist in heritage and new-strike gold coins. But what can you expect when you become a client of ours? Here, we take a look at some of the services we offer, and why dealing with Hattons of London is something you won’t regret…

What does Hattons of London specialise in?

Hattons of London is a trusted and respected specialist in rare and exclusive gold coins, including world firsts and exclusive releases. We offer a wide variety of heritage coins and modern gold sovereigns, covering all numismatic interests and themes such as Royal and military. Hattons of London also has a team of knowledgeable and expert account managers, who are on hand to offer you advice and information about the products we offer.

  • What is a heritage coin? Previously, before Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, heritage coinage could be defined as any coins of the monarchs that came before the current one. However, with her reign extending to such a huge length, even some of her coinage can now be described as heritage. And so, a heritage coin can now be defined as the coinage that came before the current coinage; often referring to anything from before 1970.
  • What is an eighth sovereign? The one-eighth sovereign is the smallest denomination in the sovereign family, most often struck in 22 carat gold. It is 1 gram in weight and 11.0mm in diameter.
  •  What is a quarter sovereign? The quarter sovereign is one of the smallest denominations in the sovereign family, most often struck in 22 carat gold. It is 2 grams in weight and 14.0mm in diameter.

Are Hattons of London coins worth anything?

Gold sovereigns from Hattons of London are not sold on the value of gold alone, but also for the commemorative value and the intricacy of the striking process. They are also often subject to extremely low mintages and proof quality striking, making them very desirable on the secondary market.

Hattons of London is also the only company to offer its clients a guarantee that certain new-strike coins will completely sell-out. This ensures that coins will not be “drip-fed” into the market for years to come, creating the best conditions for upward movement in secondary market pricing. You can read more about our Sell Out Guarantee HERE.

Hattons of London also runs a Buy Back scheme, with regular offers available. Our limited mintages means that our coins often sell out very quickly, which can be frustrating for those who miss out. We run regular buy back offers and guarantee to offer the best market value for existing clients’ coins in order to satisfy demand elsewhere.

Whilst we are proud at Hattons of London to deliver very quick returns for some of our collectors through our Buy Back offers, our advice would always be to buy coins on the basis of their value to you as a collector’s item, and to treat any increase in financial value as an unexpected bonus.
