And so, a heritage coin can now be defined as the coinage that came before the current coinage; often referring to anything from before 1970.

- What is a quarter sovereign? The quarter sovereign is one of the smallest denominations in the sovereign family, most often struck in 22 carat gold. It is 2 grams in weight and 14.0mm in diameter.
