This year we celebrate an event of great magnitude and something that nobody has ever seen before: a Platinum Jubilee.

A series of gold sovereign coins have already been released exclusively by Hattons of London to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II becoming the first monarch to celebrate seventy years of reign. However, this series sold out quicker than any other before, therefore, a new range is being released to celebrate Her Majesty’s greatest personal qualities that have enabled her to become such an exceptional monarch. It is these personal qualities, which are classically referred to as ‘Her Majesty’s Graces’, that are the topic of a new world-first series of gold sovereigns. The 2022 King George VI Tribute Gold Sovereign range has now reached a complete sell out. A massive congratulations to all of those clients who have managed to secure such a fantastic series of sovereign coins.

Six Facts About King George VI…

As we celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, it’s worth remembering that this was sadly brought about by the death of her father, King George VI on 6th February 1952. Remembered for ruling through the Second World War, George only reigned for 16 years, but in those years, he became one of the more notable monarchs in modern British history.

King George VI, previously known as Prince Albert, Duke of York, could not have foreseen he would become our monarch but the shock abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, meant that ‘Bertie’ was forced to assume the role on 11th December 1936. From his poor health, to the almighty perils he faced during the War, there was certainly more to George VI than his notorious stammer.
