Now, you have the opportunity to secure The 2026 Battle of the Somme Gold Sovereign Superior Set, bringing together four remarkable sovereign denominations in one exceptional collection.

Four remarkable coins honouring the heroes of the Somme
Each coin features a striking battlefield scene, with barbed wire and a shattered tree stump representing the devastation of the Somme.  In the foreground of each design is a different First World War medal, giving every denomination its own distinctive historical significance.
The One Tenth Sovereign features the British War Medal 1914–1918, affectionately nicknamed ‘Squeak’, awarded to qualifying servicemen during the First World War.
The One Eighth Sovereign depicts the 1914–15 Star, known as ‘Pip’, awarded to qualifying servicemen who served overseas during the early years of the war.
The Quarter Sovereign features the Victory Medal, nicknamed ‘Wilfred’, awarded to qualifying personnel for service during the First World War.
The Half Sovereign depicts the Military Medal, instituted in 1916 and awarded for acts of bravery in the field.
Together, these four designs form a poignant tribute to the men who served and sacrificed during one of the most significant battles of the First World War.
Genuine silver from 1916, a tangible connection to history
What makes these sovereigns particularly remarkable is not simply their design, but the precious metals from which they have been struck.
Traditionally, sovereigns contain 22 carats of gold, with the remaining two carats consisting of other metals to strengthen the coin.
For this anniversary collection, that alloy incorporates at least 1% genuine silver recovered from original British coins minted in 1916.
This creates an extraordinary physical connection to the year of the Battle of the Somme, bringing together historic silver and precious gold in a lasting tribute to those who served.
Four sovereigns, one exceptional presentation
The Superior Set brings together all four denominations in a beautifully crafted luxury presentation box, allowing each of the distinctive medal designs to be displayed together.
With the One Eighth and Quarter Sovereigns available exclusively as part of a set, this is a special opportunity to secure all four coins in one remarkable collection.
